Over the next 3 days, Kuching, Sarawak, the new home for the ATA, will see a rise of over 2,000 international visitors to attend the prestigious award, as well as more than 500 million TV viewers across the world. Present during the Press Conference also was: Lee Keen Whye (Chairman), Koh Jik Seng (Director), Sim Kiang Chiok (Advisor & Spokesperson) of ATV Awards Sdn Bhd1 and Hii Chang Kee (Permanent Secretary), Ministry of Tourism, Arts, Culture, Youth and Sports Sarawak.
YB Datuk Abdul Karim Rahman Hamzah said in his press statement earlier today that he is proud that a 23 year-long prestigious awards, the Asian Television Awards is now held in Kuching, Sarawak, making it the Grammy Awards of Asia. The Awards comprises of over 40 categories and represents the industry’s foremost recognition to independent production houses in Asia. Tonight, Kuching will play host to the ATA Gala Dinner where a total of 28 out of 42 awards categories will be up for grabs and the winner will be chosen by an expert panel of over 50 judges from across the region. (The outstanding 14 award categories will be presented on Saturday, Jan 12th, 2019 during the Live Award Show). The judges were hand-picked based on their expertise and tremendous experience in local and international entertainment scene. Amongst the Awards given tonight will be: Best Documentary Programme, Best New Programme, Best Talk Show, Best Children’s Programme, Best Sports Programme, Best Cinematography, Best Original Screenplay, and many more.
ATA is holding their 23rd edition in Kuching, Sarawak in support of “Visit Sarawak 2019” campaign organized by the Ministry of Tourism, Arts, Culture, Youth and Sports of Sarawak. “The attendance of A-List celebrities and the global attention for this eventis a great way to spread the excitement of eco-tourism in Sarawak, also known as the “Green Heaven of Southeast Asia”. Tonight, more than 50 Top Asian Celebrities will be attending the 23rd Asian Television Awards Gala Dinner. Top Asian Celebrities that will be appearing consist of Cheng Rexen, Maneerat Kum-Uan, Hu Gua, Ah Xiang, Louis Scott and many more.
