The UAW commends President Obama's "to do list" for job creation. The President's 5-point agenda will help American businesses bring jobs back to the United States, will allow more hardworking people to stay in their homes, and will help more of our brave veterans find good jobs when they return from combat. We have seen in auto how well American workers can compete when given a chance. By eliminating some of the perverse tax incentives that encourage off shoring, like the ability to deduct the cost of shipping jobs overseas, the President's agenda will strengthen American communities. We call on Congress to put the American people ahead of politics and quickly enact these commonsense proposals.
