SF Elder Abuse Attorney Ingrid Evans Honored for Protecting Elderly Victims of Financial Fraud
The Elder Financial Protection Network honors San Francisco elder abuse attorney Ingrid Evans at its 11th National Call to Action Summit in Los Angeles.
/EINPresswire.com/ Los Angeles, CA - San Francisco attorney Ingrid Evans, The Evans Law Firm, has been honored by the Elder Financial Protection Network for her work in protecting senior citizens from financial predators and elder bank fraud. Evans received the Donald N. Phelps Visionary Leadership Award for raising public awareness and advocating for positive change at the Elder Financial Protection Network's 11th National Call to Action Summit in Los Angeles on November 2nd.
Senior citizens are increasingly becoming a target of financial exploitation, in part due to the equity of their homes and the assets they have accumulated. Elder financial abuse strikes one in four seniors in the United States and costs more than $3 billion annually.
Evans is currently seeking justice for senior citizens against Allianz and American Equity in a case involving deferred annuity sales. Most recently she secured compensation for members of a class action suit against American National Insurance Company and AIG after an elderly widow came to her office with a complaint about penalties attached to a deferred annuity.
In sharing best practices aimed at preventing elder abuse with elder justice professionals including financial institutions and law, Evans said "we all need to work together on the issue of elder financial abuse through education, legislation and advocacy."

Evans was part of a news conference with actor and elder abuse survivor Mickey Rooney along with Hubert "Skip" Humphrey, head of the new office in the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau. Rooney was the honorary event chairman and recently filed a lawsuit against his stepson accusing him and others of elder financial abuse.
