California forges on to codify federal Indian child law
(Subscription required) AB 81, dubbed the California Indian Child Welfare Act, would harmonize the state’s Family, Probate and the Welfare and Institutions codes with the federal law. This includes the rules determining when someone can be considered “an Indian child” in a custody dispute.
