Rutherford Man Arrested, Charged with Counts Including Rape of a Child
RUTHERFORD – An investigation by the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation has led to the arrest of a Rutherford man on multiple counts in connection to a child rape investigation in Gibson County.
At the request of 28th Judicial District Attorney General Frederick Agee, on March 15th, TBI special agents joined the Rutherford Police Department and Department of Children’s Services in investigating allegations of sexual assault against a child. During the investigation, agents discovered between 2008 and 2022, Carroll Simon Butler (DOB: 10/24/81) sexually assaulted young female family members.
Today, with the assistance of the West Tennessee Drug Task Force and the Gibson County Sheriff’s Office, TBI special agents arrested Butler on one count of Continuous Sexual Abuse of a Child, two counts of Rape of a Child, and two counts of Incest. He was booked into the Gibson County Jail on $500,000.
