Temporary morning closure of westbound I-80 at West Branch (exit 254) in Johnson County rescheduled for Tuesday, Feb. 28

DAVENPORT, Iowa – Feb. 22, 2023 – Placement of beams for the Wapsi Avenue Bridge over westbound Interstate 80 in Johnson County, which was scheduled for Thursday morning, Feb. 23, has been rescheduled for Tuesday morning, Feb. 28, due to a winter storm that is expected in the area today according to the Iowa Department of Transportation’s Davenport construction office.

On Tuesday morning, Feb. 28, the westbound lanes of I-80 from West Branch (exit 254) to Johnson County Road F-44/ Herbert Hoover Highway (exit 249) will be closed from midnight until 5 a.m. Westbound I-80 traffic will be detoured through West Branch (Exit 254) to Johnson County Road F-44/ Herbert Hoover Highway to westbound I-80 (Exit 249).

The Iowa DOT reminds motorists to drive with caution, obey the posted speed limit and other signs in the work area, and be aware that traffic fines for moving violations are at least double in work zones. As in all work zones, drivers should stay alert, allow ample space between vehicles, and wear seat belts.
