Reminder: Public Invited to Recruitment Event for CDL Operators and Diesel and Construction Equipment Mechanics, Other Positions

Job Fair to be held in Dauphin County; others planned in south central PA

Harrisburg, PA – This is a reminder that the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) will host a recruitment event for job seekers to learn about the following positions the department offers in Dauphin County:

• Winter temporary and permanent CDL operator (starting pay is $21.00/hr.)

• Transportation equipment operator trainee (starting pay is $19.38/hr.)

• Diesel and construction equipment mechanic (starting pay is $25.28/hr.)

• Diesel and construction equipment mechanic trainee (starting pay is $25.91/hr.)

• Automotive mechanic (starting pay is $22.80/hr.)

• Welder (starting pay is $18.99/hr.)

• Tradesman Helper (starting pay is $16.86/hr.)

A job fair will be held from 8:00 AM to 2:00 PM Wednesday, August 17 at the Dauphin County Maintenance Office, 2140 Herr Street, Harrisburg PA 17013. For more information, please call 717-787-5391.

Staff will be available to discuss current and future openings within the commonwealth for CDL operators, who must have a valid Pennsylvania (PA) CDL Class A or B with no restrictions, and diesel and construction equipment mechanics, who must have a valid CDL and a PA Class 7 inspector mechanic certification. Both positions also require a current medical examiner certificate.

On-the-spot applications, interviews, and driving skills testing will take place. Applicans need to bring their current CDL license and medical examiners card.
