U.S. 63 from Iowa 96 to Traer to close May 23 for resurfacing

MARSHALLTOWN, Iowa – May 11, 2022 – An asphalt resurfacing project on U.S. 63 from the intersection of Iowa 96 to Traer will require closing U.S. 63, from 7 a.m. Monday, May 23, until Fall 2022, weather permitting, according to the Iowa Department of Transportation’s Marshalltown construction office.

During this closure, traffic will be detoured around the work zone (see map). The detour route will use Tama County roads E-29 and V-18, and Iowa 8.

The Iowa DOT reminds motorists to drive with caution, obey the posted speed limit and other signs in the work area, and be aware that traffic fines for moving violations are at least double in work zones. As in all work zones, drivers should stay alert, allow ample space between vehicles, and wear seat belts.
