Chief Justice says elimination of rights can be an enemy of the constitution
Chief Justice Tani Cantil-Sakauye gave the keynote address at a 2022 Law Day event at Cal State Monterey Bay. During her speech, the Chief Justice asserted that “enemies of the constitution,” which she and other public officials take an oath to protect and defend against, “can be laws that are unconstitutional, it can be oppression of people, it can be bias, it can be discrimination, it can be the elimination of rights.”
