Western Hemisphere: Pink Ribbon, Red Ribbon: New Women's Health Public-Private Partnership

On September 13, 2011, Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton and President George W. Bush will launch a new public-private partnership, the Pink Ribbon Red Ribbon (PRRR) Partnership, to expand the availability of vital cervical and breast cancer screening and treatment for women at risk in developing nations in sub-Saharan Africa and Latin America.
PRRR is a public-private partnership between the U.S. Department of State, the George W. Bush Institute, Susan G. Komen for the Cure®, UNAIDS and additional partners. The event will take place at approximately 4:00 p.m. at the Andrew W. Mellon Auditorium in Washington, D.C.

The event will be open to registered members of the media. To register, media must email Maggie.Easterlin@bm.com by Monday, September 12th at 5:00 p.m. EDT with legal names, dates of birth, and social security numbers of any reporter, photographer, or crewmember anticipated to attend the event.
Registered media should arrive at the Andrew W. Mellon Auditorium by 3:00 p.m. for security screening. Media arriving after 3:00 p.m. will not be admitted.

The PRRR cervical cancer screening and treatment services will leverage the platform and resources of the U.S. President’s Emergency Plan for AIDS Relief (PEPFAR), established under President Bush and a cornerstone of President Obama’s Global Health Initiative (GHI).
The launch of the PRRR Partnership occurs as part of the George W. Bush Institute’s inaugural “Summit to Save Lives.” The Summit is a two-day global health event designed to mobilize leaders and leverage an integrated approach to health care for women and children around the world.
