Thad Pryor Counters Wisconsin Report as “Least Affordable” State for Childcare

Every state has working parents who need regular, daytime childcare options for their kids, but that doesn’t mean every state’s childcare options are equally affordable. A new study by the National Association of Child Care Resource & Referral Agencies shows that Wisconsin is one of the “least affordable” states in which to send kids to childcare. In fact, the study’s conclusion is that most of the state’s leading childcare services cost more in tuition than enrollment in a state university. The study comes just a month after Thad Pryor, president and CEO of Children of America, announced plans to expand his company into the Wisconsin area.

According to the childcare study, the average annual cost of sending a 4-year-old to a “center-based care provider” in Wisconsin is $9,050, which is more than ten percent of the state’s median annual income. The cost of sending an infant to childcare is even higher.

Thad Pryor, whose new Children of America facility is located in New Berlin, responded to the study by telling parents they shouldn’t be discouraged by the price tag, but rather encouraged by opportunities to find value. In a statement, Pryor notes that, while the state’s overall childcare prices may be unusually high, the fees charged by Children of America are close to uniform.

Ultimately, Thad Pryor says, the Wisconsin study is not bad news. “The bottom line,” says the Children of America CEO, “is that there are some great childcare facilities in the state, and that they offer their services at rates that are roughly on par with what you’d find anywhere else. Children of America, in particular, opens affordable options and a standard-setting child development program.”

According to Pryor, the launch of the new Children of America branch in New Berlin will only “increase value” for Wisconsin parents seeking high-quality childcare. The company is known for its robust focus on a child’s academic, emotional, and creative development, as well as for Thad Pryor’s emphasis on fitness and athletic growth.
