Jobs and Economic Development from New Transmission and Generation in Wyoming
Date: 3/31/2011
Wyoming is a significant energy exporter, producing nearly 40% of the nation's coal and 10% of the nation's natural gas. However, opportunities to add new energy exports in the form of power generation are limited by insufficient transmission capacity. National Renewable Energy Laboratory researchers Eric Lantz and Suzanne Tegen produced Jobs and Economic Development from New Transmission and Generation in Wyoming (PDF 3.9 MB) Download Adobe Reader, a report that informs policymakers, local government officials, and Wyoming residents about the jobs and economic development activity that could occur should new investments in transmission, wind generation, and natural gas generation in Wyoming move forward. The Wyoming Infrastructure Authority (WIA) commissioned the report, which was jointly funded by the WIA and the U.S. Department of Energy State Technical Assistance Program.
