Rally for School Choice in Harrisburg on January 25th!
With a conservative governor and General Assembly this year, Pennsylvania has a great opportunity to move a limited government, pro-freedom agenda through the legislative process. The election results last November were a resounding message to the politicians in Harrisburg that Pennsylvanians want lower taxes, less government and more freedom.
Newly elected governor Tom Corbett ran on a pro-freedom agenda that includes budget reform, cutting spending and more opportunity for Pennsylvania students through school choice. The new General Assembly meets in Harrisburg very soon, and we need to work hard to rally support for the pro-freedom agenda in Pennsylvania. To that end, we are taking part in a big,
all-day event in Harrisburg on January 25th with other like-minded groups around the state.
Please join us in Harrisburg at the state capitol building on January 25th for the following events:
Policy Panel on School Choice
Location - Hearing Room 2 in the North Office, State Capitol Building (MAP)
Time - 10:00am to 11:30am
Speakers include - Senator Anthony Williams (D-Philadelphia) - Sponsor of SB1 (school choice bill)
Senator Jeff Piccola (R-Halifax) - Chairman of Senate Education Committee
Dr. Alberta Wilson - Faith First Educational Group
Rally at the Capitol for School Choice
Location - State Capitol Building (North 3rd Street and State Street) (MAP)
Time - 2:00pm to 4:00pm (Lunch will be provided)
Throughout the day we will be encouraging everyone to go visit with their elected officials. Please be sure to make an appointment with your own representative and senator. Follow up your written request with a phone call. If you need any help with the process of making appointments to see your elected officials, please call David Spielman at (202)-942-7607.
We are very excited to hit the ground running in 2011 to support limited government in Pennsylvania, and school choice is going to be a big part of our effort. Please join us in Harrisburg on January 25th to send a clear message to lawmakers of both political parties that Pennsylvanians want better educational opportunities for their children.
