Activist Investment Watch: LKQ Planting Trees For Clicks

April 23, 2010 (FinancialWire) — LKQ Corp., (NASDAQ: LKQX) the largest auto and truck recycler in the United States, has kicked off a new promotion in honor of Earth Day for its customers and people who want to help the environment: LKQ will plant a tree in honor of each person who visits the website www.LKQGetGreen.com and enters a valid email address between April 22 and June 30, 2010.

"We always celebrate Earth Day, but for us, being green is just the way we do business, not a once-a-year event," said Robert Wagman, senior VP of Operations Wholesale Parts Division for LKQ.

Last year LKQ processed over 492,000 vehicles, which is equivalent to recycling about 540,000 tons of steel, 47,000 tons of aluminum, and 13,000 tons of copper. Through its operations, LKQ said it has helped to reduce greenhouse gas emissions by over 890,000 tons, which is about the same as the annual emissions of a city of 82,000 people.

LKQ operates approximately 295 facilities.
