Two Canada Conservatives Speak in Favor of Asbestos Ban
Two members of the nation’s Conservative MP party break political ranks and support a call for an asbestos ban.
Mesothelioma Cancer News (Ottawa, Canada) – Two Canadian Conservative MPs have spoken in support of a Liberal initiative to shut down operations that mine asbestos. As reported by the Canwest News Service, Conservative MPs Dona Cadman and Pat Davidson have both recently commented on the issue leading many to speculate that they’ve decided to break party ranks in support of an asbestos ban in the country.
Cadman is quoted in the report as stating of the matter, “I'm really concerned about it… I mean, here we are, we're ripping it out of our walls in Ottawa and yet we're still manufacturing it. Now we're sending something that is unsafe to Third World countries that don't have the ability or the resources to put the safety practices in.”
Davidson is further as stating to the Sarnia Observer, “I'm definitely not supporting the mining or exporting of asbestos.”
