New Global Content Role at EuroFinance taken up by Editor of CFO Asia and CFO China
London, May 21, 2008 - Tom Leander, currently Editor-In-Chief of CFO Asia and CFO China, Hong Kong-based magazines published by the Economist Group, will take up a new role on July 1 as Editorial Director for EuroFinance. In this role Leander will drive the excellence of content for EuroFinance globally.
"I'm delighted to be joining the world's thought leader in cash, treasury, and risk management," says Leander, "at a time when the business is facing a volatile but promising future - and in which new best practices are emerging."
In the position, Leander will oversee content for EuroFinance conferences, its website, and Treasury Perspectives magazine, as well as launching new EuroFinance research products. He will also chair EuroFinance conferences.
"This is a newly created post to harness the editorial potential of EuroFinance, as the business of cash, treasury and risk management grows in sophistication globally and the banking industry faces new and heady challenges. Our intent is to expand thought leadership into new channels to provide the best information and analysis possible to the community of bankers, treasurers and risk managers", says Carolyn Meier, Managing Director for EuroFinance.
Leander was appointed editor-in-chief of CFO Asia magazine in December 2001, after serving as deputy editor since November 1999. He has written extensively on corporate finance, treasury and management topics across Asia. He oversaw the development of CFO China into a successful monthly magazine. Leander has appeared on CNN, Bloomberg, BBC and CNBC television to discuss CFO magazine surveys of the Asian economy. He writes the column, "View from Asia," for CFO's US edition. Leander's story, "The Great Debate," the first cover to be published globally by all editions of CFO magazine globally, won an award for feature writing from the American Society of Business Publications Editors for 2001.
Leander previously worked at Global Finance magazine in New York as managing editor, and travelled frequently to Asia to cover the market's boom and subsequent collapse. Prior to that, he worked with Stern Stewart & Co., the creator of economic value added. He was vice president of the EVA Institute, a forum for EVA companies. He started his career in journalism as the northeast bureau reporter for American Banker, a daily newspaper based in New York, covering mergers and acquisitions and corporate finance.
