International Herald Tribune to Launch Style and Design Magazine with The New York Times
NEW YORK--The International Herald Tribune (IHT) announced today that it will launch an international edition of T, The New York Times' award-winning style magazine, in December.
Like the U.S. edition, each issue of the IHT's Style Magazine, International T, will have a thematic focus with topics including women's fashion, men's fashion, travel, design and holiday.
T's editor, Stefano Tonchi, who previously worked at Esquire and L'Uomo Vogue, said: "The success T has achieved, both in terms of design and commercially, makes me very enthusiastic about taking it to Europe and the Middle East. With the strong, global influence designers have on the way we live today, T helps guide you through what is new and worthwhile - and the IHT is the perfect vehicle to extend the brand internationally."
Suzy Menkes, fashion editor of the International Herald Tribune, will launch a new column in the first issue of International T, offering her unique take on luxury, style and taste in the global arena.
The first International T will debut at the IHT's fashion and luxury industry conference in Moscow on November 28-29. It will then be distributed inside subscription, newsstand and hotel copies of the newspaper throughout Europe and the Middle East on December 1. Thereafter, International T will appear periodically, its issues following the rhythm of the fashion, style and design seasons.
The New York Times Magazine (which includes T) was the number one magazine in advertising pages in the U.S. last year, according to the Publishers' Information Bureau. The U.S. edition of T won three gold medals in the Society of Publication Designers' 2006 competition, including "Magazine of the Year." Three issues last year won silver awards for overall design from the Society of News Designers, also in the United States.
Alexis Buryk, senior vice president, advertising, The New York Times, said: "We are delighted to be bringing T magazine to Europe and the Middle East. The high quality editorial and beautiful layouts, combined with the IHT's affluent, engaged readership creates a fantastic new opportunity for all our international advertisers."
