Prime Minister wishes Latvia a happy Independence Day

LITHUANIA, November 18 - On behalf of the people and the Government of the Republic of Lithuania, Prime Minister Ingrida Šimonytė extends sincere greetings to Latvia on the occasion of its Independence Day.

‘Latvia and Lithuania have always been close allies and friends, which is evidenced by the fruitful and dynamic cooperation across the widest spectrum of fields. Today we see a need for even closer cooperation among our institutions, as our countries face both old and new security challenges, including a hybrid attack at our borders. I have no doubt that all the challenges we meet today will be tackled, and will make us even stronger. The road that Latvia has travelled during the years of independence is a source of pride and inspiration for many nations. I am glad to witness that more and more people in our countries are getting interested in each other’s history, culture, and tourism opportunities. I am looking forward to working together to further strengthen our friendly relations and cooperation based on our shared values and solidarity,’ reads the Prime Minister’s letter.
