Gov. Wolf Releases Statement on Gun Violence in Honor of Indianapolis Victims

Today, in honor of the victims of gun violence in Indianapolis and across the country, Governor Tom Wolf released a statement calling for lawmakers to take action to reduce gun violence:

“On behalf of all Pennsylvanians, I extend my condolences to the gun violence victims in Indianapolis and their families. Pennsylvania grieves with you.

“Our nation is beset by gun violence. Every death to gun violence is tragic – all the more so because many of these deaths are preventable. The narrative that there’s nothing we can do to prevent gun violence is false – and we cannot let it go unchallenged.

“Just three and a half weeks ago I joined advocates in Pennsylvania to call for common sense changes to our laws to reduce gun violence. We know what works, and we need to make these changes now, to protect our communities and our families from further violence and grief.

“We can’t take back the death, the fear, or the trauma that gun violence has inflicted on our country already. But we can take a stand, right now, and declare it will not happen again. I urge lawmakers in Congress and in the Pennsylvania General Assembly to stand up and take action to reduce gun violence in our communities.”
