Gazprom Neft bitumens to be made available to Yakutia in improving the quality of local road infrastructure

Gazprom Neft, under an agreement signed by Head of the Sakha Republic (Yakutia) Aysen Nikolaev and Gazprom Neft CEO Alexander Dyukov, has entered into an agreement to supply the region with high-tech bitumen materials. This partnership envisages Gazprom Neft suppling increasing volumes of bitumens to the region for use in road, airport and industrial construction, as well as for housing and utilities.

More than 24,000 tonnes of Gazprom Neft bitumen materials were despatched to the republic in the first 10 months of 2020 — the most important infrastructure project involving the use of the company’s polymer—bitumen binders being a bridge across the River Markha, with special formulations, adapted to the local climate and designed to extend the service life of road coverings used, being developed at the Gazprom Neft Science and Technology Centre. The key areas covered by the agreement include extensive testing of asphalt pavements (road coverings) and the selection of individual components in line with the region’s specific environment and conditions. More extended use of innovative Gazprom Neft bitumen materials is also planned: in which vein, deliveries of bitumen-polymer bridging tapes and airfield sealants started being made to Yakutia in 2020, allowing swift repairs, all year round.

Gazprom Neft uses a cutting-edge form of packaging — Clovertainers® — in delivering bitumen materials throughout the region, making it possible to transport binders while ensuring no loss in their high performance standards.

«Yakutia is a region with a challenging climate: and its remoteness from production centres has meant the company has had to use non-standard logistics solutions. We have found an effective way to deliver bitumen materials to the republic, and businesses in the region’s roadbuilding and construction industries have, already, had a chance to assess the quality of our bitumens, and our service. This new agreement will allow us to increase the purposes for which Gazprom Neft bitumen products — specifically tailored to Yakutia’s climate — are used, in turn improving the quality of infrastructure projects undertaken in the region».
