A Grassroots Effort Uses Technology to Encourage Voters to
Cast Their Ballots Early and in Person

VOTE EARLY 2020 Provides Dates, Locations, and Hours of Operation to Get People Safely to the Polls During Early Voting Season

(NEW YORK, NY) Early in-person voting records are being shattered across the country and VOTE EARLY 2020 is using technology to inform and encourage the turnout. Created by a team of media and tech-savvy volunteers, VOTE EARLY 2020 is a non-partisan political action organization that is the brainchild of Margo Wright, an entrepreneur, determined to amplify national messaging to get people safely to the polls during early voting season.

“We are excited to see the number of people voting early and in-person. Our organization is here to assist people in knowing when, and where to vote in their neighborhoods,” said Wright. The idea of waiting in long lines on November 3rd has many people seeking absentee, mail-in ballots, but it’s important to remember that early, in-person voting is also a safe and viable option in 44 states and Washington D.C.”

When users log-on to www.voteearly2020.us, they are prompted to enter their address. The web app and SMS tool quickly respond by providing the voter with their states’ early voting dates, locations, and hours of operation. This is easier than many local sites that force users to click several times before getting results. VOTE EARLY 2020 app users can also sign-up to receive voting reminders via email and make a pledge to cast their ballots early. Through the app, users can also easily share their status as “early voters” (“Be First!”) on social media platforms (Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, and TikTok) using #VoteEarly2020.

With a pandemic that is driving record absentee ballot requests and the concurrent conflicting rhetoric about vote-by-mail, voting early and in-person, offers several advantages, including: flexibility on voting, with options that include the weekends in certain states, shorter lines and waits at polling places
additional time for first-time voters who are unfamiliar with the process the opportunity for a do-over if there are any issues with a voter’s registration or
ballot.
