The Center’s Orthopedic Surgeon’s Now Offering Advanced Robotic Arm Assisted Joint Replacement Procedures

Robotic-Arm Assisted Surgery

Mako Robotic-Arm Assisted Surgery System

BEND, OR, UNITED STATES, July 28, 2020 /EINPresswire.com/ -- Cascade Surgicenter is the first ambulatory surgery center in Central Oregon to offer robotic-arm assisted total knee and total hip replacement with Stryker’s Mako System. Total joint replacements have been available at Cascade Surgicenter since 2015, allowing patients to go home the day of their surgery to recover, rather than stay in the hospital. This advanced robotic technology transforms the way joint replacement surgery is performed, enabling surgeons to care for a wide variety of patients with increased accuracy.

“As experts in outpatient total joints, we help our patients go through each step of the process with the knowledge and tools needed for a positive and successful outcome, “stated Cammy Gilstrap, Cascade Surgicenter Director. “We are proud to be one of the first ambulatory surgery centers to get this technology so we can offer patients even more advantages to having a total joint replacement procedure done here.”

The Mako Robotic-Arm Assisted Surgery System uses a virtual 3D model allowing surgeons to create a personalized surgical plan for each patient before entering the operating room. The model is created with CT scans of the patient’s joint, which helps identify the implant size, orientation, and alignment based on each patient’s unique anatomy. In the operating room, the surgeon is able to make any necessary adjustments to the surgical plan to ensure optimal outcomes.

“This state-of-the-art technology combined with our surgeon’s expertise and the personalized level of care provided at Cascade Surgicenter allows us to provide an unparalleled patient experience, rivaling any joint replacement center across the nation,” stated James Hall, MD, orthopedic surgeon at The Center

The Mako system has been available in Central Oregon at St. Charles Health System since 2017. The joint replacement surgeons at The Center are proud to offer the same advanced technology for patients unable to schedule surgery in the hospital due to COVID-19 delays or who elect to have their joint replacement performed on an outpatient basis.
