Pleasants County Leads in New Business Growth for August 2019

Charleston, W.Va. — Pleasants County led in new business growth percentage for August 2019 with a total of six new businesses registering to operate in the county, according to West Virginia Secretary of State Mac Warner.

The number of business entities in Pleasants County grew from 165 to 171, which equates to 3.64 percent growth. The Secretary of State’s Business & Licensing Division reported that Lincoln, Hampshire, Summers and Roane counties also had notable growth in the month of August.

“The Mountain State is experiencing an increase in new business registrations every day,” Warner said. “Seeing this continued growth from month to month is encouraging, and vital to our economy.”

The number of business entities in Lincoln County grew from 238 to 245, with Hampshire County business entities increasing from 701 to 718. Summers County experienced an increase in new business registrations from 334 to 342 and Roane County went from 379 to 388 for the month of August.

Statewide, West Virginia saw a 7.91 percent growth in business registrations in the previous 12-month period. The increase in that 12-month period was led by Summers County with 17.12 percent growth.
