WV Joins #TrustedInfo2020 Public Election Education Initiative
Charleston, W.Va. – Charleston, W.Va. – Ahead of the 2020 Primary and General Elections, Secretary of State Mac Warner joins fellow members of the National Association of Secretaries of State (NASS) in support of the #TrustedInfo2020 initiative . This nationwide public education effort encourages American citizens to look to their state and local election officials as the trusted sources for election information.
#TrustedInfo2020 is meant to drive voters directly to election officials’ websites and verified social media pages to help ensure they are receiving accurate and updated election information. The campaign is designed to cut down on the misinformation and disinformation that can surround elections. The initiative will run through Dec. 31, 2020.
Secretary Warner is one of 40 Secretaries of State who serve as their state’s chief election official and currently serves as co-chair of the NASS Elections Committee . He and other state and local election officials are continuously working to inform American voters about the elections process, including voter registration, state election laws, polling place locations, voting, and much more.
“As we approach the 2020 elections, I am proud to partner with NASS to promote our office and our county clerks as the trusted sources for voting information in West Virginia,” Secretary Warner said. “Citizens should know and trust their local elections officials, as well as their websites and verified social media accounts when seeking reliable information.”
