Pigment International announces formation of Advisory Board
Dr. Patricia Jones Blessman joins Shirley Evans Wofford to guide multi-cultural arts collective
Pigment allows artists to amplify their creative visions while increasing their exposure to the business of art.”
CHICAGO, ILLINOIS, U.S., May 13, 2019 /EINPresswire.com/ -- After one year of operation PIGMENT International, the art collective redefining global arts, culture, and innovation, is adding new artists and formalizing its advisory board. After hosting 19 events in 2018, the most memorable being their exhibition of 15 Chicago and national artists during the prestigious Art Miami/Art Basel exhibition in December, they are now in the midst of executing a series of art exhibitions and events. Tops on the list, for the all-female led arts collective, was the formation of an Advisory Board to guide the organization. — Dr. Patricia Jones Blessman
Joining the Advisory Board as of May 1 is Dr. Patricia Jones Blessman, licensed clinical psychologist, philanthropist, and social venture activist. Dr. Jones, with her husband Stephen Blessman, are members of Social Venture Network (SVN), a diverse community of business leaders and entrepreneurs who can effect positive social change through business. Their combined business interests and portfolio focus is also on socially responsible investing.
The purpose of the Pigment International Advisory Board is to advise, assist, support and advocate for Pigment International on matters that will strengthen its voice as an advocate for multi-cultural artists on a local, national and global scale. The Advisory Board will provide strategic direction, guide quality improvement, and assess program effectiveness.
“Creativity takes courage, offered Dr. Blessman. To pursue art as a career is daunting, Pigment allows artists to amplify their creative visions while increasing their exposure to the business of art. Artists benefit because their representation through Pigment is value-added in comparison to conventional gallery representation, the art collector who buys will know that equitable profit sharing is embedded in the purchase price.”
“Forming this Advisory group is part of the natural growth and maturation of our Collective,” says Patricia Andrews-Keenan, founder and CEO of Pigment. “This formal arrangement allows us to tap into the expertise of some amazing business and community leaders who will assist us in realizing our global aspirations for artists of color.”
Shirley Evans Wofford, president & CEO of Lambent Risk Management, was the first advisor to support Pigment International, prior to their Miami Reveal event this past December in Miami. Evans-Wofford’s firm designs commercial and personal insurance programs for a global audience in the U.S. Europe, Asia, Africa, and the Middle East. It was through her investment in the group that they were able to host their first national exhibition at the Penthouse in the Brickell neighborhood of Miami.
The Pigment International Collective will be exhibiting during the Gold Coast Art Fair June 1 & 2 in Grant Park’s Butler Field, followed by a series of events, salons and exhibitions leading up to Black Fine Arts Month in October, which the group is launching.
The exhibit of work by 15 Chicago-based artists, plus national guest artists, was widely hailed as a stunning visual display of multi-cultural art, and the exhibition was covered by national publications including Black Art in America. During the event Pigment International recognized national artist Frank Frazier.
