Hoyer Statement on the Deadly Shootings in Christchurch, New Zealand
WASHINGTON, DC – House Majority Leader Steny H. Hoyer (MD) released the following statement today on the deadly shootings at mosques in Christchurch, New Zealand:
“The attack on the mosques in Christchurch was an attack against all humanity. It was meant to instill fear in Muslims and immigrants, an effort rooted in vile hatred. It was a strike against the principles of freedom, tolerance, and pluralism our nations cherish. My thoughts are with the victims and their families, and I pray that this heinous act of terror will instead achieve the opposite of its goal and become an opportunity for all people to draw closer as fellow men and women in a spirit of brotherhood and acceptance.”
