Italian president Sergio Mattarella praises Angola's pacifist role

Luanda, ANGOLA, February 6 - Italian President Sergio Mattarella on Wednesday praised Angola's key role in the stability of the African continent and understanding with other countries. ,

Speaking to the press, after his meeting in private with his Angolan counterpart, João Lourenço, the first Italian statesman to visit Angola, emphasized the support the country has given to the process of implementing peace in Africa.

 

On the occasion, Sergio Mattarella suggested the exploration of new areas of cooperation between Angolan and Italian companies, focusing on agro-food, infrastructure, energy and tourism.

 

He also referred to other "many sectors" in which they can work fruitfully in strengthening cooperation between governments and peoples.

 

The Italian President publicly expressed the invitation to the Angolan counterpart, João Lourenço, to visit the Republic of Italy, an invitation that was accepted.

 

At the beginning of the official lunch offered to him, he predicted that cooperation between the two countries would contribute to the diversification of the Angolan economy, the well-being of youth, to democracy and freedom.

 

President Mattarella arrived in Luanda last Tuesday for a three-day state visit.
