New Research Finds Americans Concerned With Diamond Buying Process, But Open to Artificial Intelligence Solutions that Guarantee Better Value

Two in Three People Agree Artificial Intelligence Can Make the Process of Purchasing High Quality Diamonds Online Easier, Says Survey Conducted by The Diamond Pro

SARNEN, Switzerland, Feb. 06, 2019 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- The Diamond Pro, an unbiased online diamond jewelry advisory website, today released survey results about the consumer diamond industry. The survey, conducted by CITE Research, explored perceptions of diamond ring shopping, including concerns about the shopping process and feelings about using high-tech tools, such as artificial intelligence (AI) to identify an eye-clean diamond.

Survey results show that overpaying, being taken advantage of and not getting a high quality diamond are the top concerns consumers face when shopping for a diamond. Although traditional diamond buying is done in-store with a sales professional, more consumers are turning to the Internet to help make big purchases. Technologies like The Diamond Pro’s AI tool, Ringo, are helping alleviate consumer concerns with online diamond purchases. Through Ringo’s patent pending AI technology, it is able to identify eye-clean diamonds for consumers based upon their budgetary and stylistic preferences.

The survey was conducted online and is nationally representative of 1,000 U.S. adults. Key findings include:

  • Consumers in general don’t feel confident with key aspects of the diamond buying process – 61% of people report they are NOT confident they could spot flaws in a diamond.
  • Two in three people agree AI could make the process of purchasing diamonds online easier.
  • 61% of people would be more likely to buy a diamond online if AI guaranteed better value.
  • 62% agree AI would assure them they are getting the best diamond for their dollar.
  • 65% agree AI can make the process of online shopping easier.

“The survey results confirm what we have known for a while now, the landscape of the consumer diamond industry is changing. Today consumers confidently make large purchases online--buying cars and houses. Now, with similar ease and confidence, consumers can purchase diamonds online. AI tools, like Ringo, identify quality diamonds for consumers unfamiliar with the diamond industry,” said Ira Weissman, founder of The Diamond Pro. “As AI becomes more mainstream in helping humans make important decisions, it was only a matter of time before the diamond industry implemented this type of powerful technology.”

Ringo is available for use online at www.diamonds.pro/ringo.
