AME Announces 2019 Board of Directors With a Focus on Diversity

/EIN News/ -- VANCOUVER, British Columbia, Jan. 21, 2019 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- The Association for Mineral Exploration (AME) has set the precedent for gender diversity at the highest level in the workplace for the Mineral Exploration and Mining Industry with their 2019 Board of Directors.

With statistics such as only 19.5% of board members for Canada’s top 500 companies being women¹, the importance of a strong, collaborative and diverse board is both refreshing and an important part of AME’s values of inclusive leadership.

Collectively, the new board boasts a wealth of varied expertise from professional geologists and company leaders. The Directors include senior executives from Amarc Resources Ltd., Independence Gold Corp, Kirk Environmental, IDM Mining, Raymond James, Seabridge Gold Inc., Sun Metals Corp and Teck Resources Ltd. We welcome law professionals, innovative business leaders and the founders of Below BC, VRify and Indigenous and business leaders from the Tahltan Central Government and Nisga’a Nation.

Commenting on the new board, Edie Thome, President and CEO for AME, said:

“It is my pleasure to welcome the new AME Board of Directors who are a strong, diverse team of leaders. The Board will work together to continue to grow and move the mineral exploration industry toward a modern, responsible and successful future. I am proud that we at AME are paving the way for a much needed diverse and inclusive future for the industry and I look forward to the amazing and innovative things our Association will achieve in 2019.”

About AME

AME is the lead association for the mineral exploration and development industry based in British Columbia. Established in 1912, AME represents, advocates and promotes the interests of almost 5,000 members who are engaged in mineral exploration and development in BC and globally. AME encourages a safe, economically strong and environmentally responsible industry by providing clear initiatives, policies, events and tools to support its membership in delivering responsible projects that advance reconciliation and provide benefit to all British Columbians.

AME Mineral Exploration Roundup 2019

AME’S 36th annual Mineral Exploration Roundup conference is where leaders in mineral exploration connect. Roundup is a driving force for mineral exploration in Western Canada and the North and South American Cordillera.

This year’s theme communicates all the elements, skills and activities that go into exploration, plus the elements, metals and minerals awaiting discovery. AME Roundup 2019 will highlight the elements necessary for successful mineral exploration and connect explorers, suppliers, financiers, innovators and Indigenous groups around a world-renowned technical geoscience program. The synergies we cultivate at Roundup will energize all of us to discover and deliver the elements needed to support our shared low-carbon future.
