Never Again MSD Co-founder David Hogg, and Author Steve Pemberton to Headline NEHRA 2019 Diversity Awards Gala

BOSTON, Jan. 16, 2019 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- The Northeast Human Resources Association (NEHRA) announced today that this year’s NEHRA Diversity & Inclusion Awards Gala will feature a conversation between Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School shooting survivor and Never Again MSD co-founder David Hogg, and Globoforce Chief Human Resources Officer and author Steve Pemberton. The event will be held April 11, 2019, at the State Room in Boston and tickets are currently available.

"Our keynote speakers will discuss how to transform tragedy into resilience and how to build and sustain an impassioned community,” said Tracy Burns, CEO of NEHRA. "David and Steve share incredible personal experiences and a predisposition toward resilience, determination and action. I know they will inspire everyone who attends the Gala.”

David Hogg is a survivor of the Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School shooting on February 14, 2018. It was the deadliest high school shooting in the American history, killing seventeen students and staff members and injuring seventeen others. David is one of the founding members of Never Again MSD, a gun control advocacy group led by fellow survivors and founded soon after the shooting. He also co-authored the New York Times best-seller, #NeverAgain: A New Generation Draws the Line.

Steve Pemberton is the CHRO for Globoforce, having previously held roles at Monster.com and Walgreens Boot Alliance. He is the best-selling author of A Chance in the World, a book that tells of his journey from an orphan who was told he did not have a chance in the world, to trail-blazing corporate executive and diversity leader. The book was released as a feature film in May of 2018.

NEHRA’s Awards Gala will also feature the presentation of the 2019 Frank X. McCarthy Diversity Champions, both organizational and individual, as well as the distribution of $15,000 in college scholarships to three local high school students. “These students represent the pinnacle of academic achievement, community service, and overall dedication to promoting harmony among diverse groups,” said Burns.
