Georgia Public Policy Foundation Celebrates National School Choice Week Jan. 22

Join experts Ashley Berner, Ben Scafidi in a discussion of education options for Georgia's children

ATLANTA , GEORGIA, UNITED STATES, January 15, 2019 /EINPresswire.com/ -- If no two children in a family have the same personalities and needs, imagine what it's like for the children in a classroom. Children have different personalities, learn at different paces and understand in different ways.

It's why National School Choice Week is held every year: to celebrate options for children to achieve and excel no matter their academic needs. And it's why the Georgia Public Policy Foundation's event is one of 40,000 events and activities across America celebrating National School Choice Week 2019 from January 20-26.

You're invited to a Foundation Policy Briefing Luncheon on Tuesday, January 22, in the Empire Room, 20th Floor of the Sloppy Floyd Building in Atlanta, opposite the Georgia State Capitol. Register here for "National School Choice Week: A Capitol Choice."

The speakers are Dr. Ashley Berner, deputy director at the Johns Hopkins University Institute for Education Policy, and Georgia Public Policy Foundation Senior Fellow Dr. Ben Scafidi.

Berner has published articles and book chapters on the relationship between educational structure and state funding in democratic nations, religious education and citizenship formation, and teacher preparation in different national contexts. Palgrave MacMillan published “Pluralism and American Public Education: No One Way to School” in 2017. She consults regularly on projects that examine the academic and civic outcomes of different school sectors. She is a Senior Fellow at the Center for the Study of Law and Religion at Emory University Law School. She holds degrees from Davidson College (Honors A.B.) and from Oxford University (M.Litt. and D.Phil. in Modern History).

Scafidi is a professor of economics and Director of the Education Economics Center at Kennesaw State University. He is also a Friedman fellow with EdChoice.
