Gazprom designing top-priority facilities to expand Yakutia’s gas infrastructure via Power of Siberia gas pipeline

Release

A working meeting between Alexey Miller, Chairman of the Gazprom Management Committee, and Aisen Nikolaev, Head of the Republic of Sakha (Yakutia), took place in St. Petersburg today.

The parties reviewed ongoing cooperation, noting the strategic importance of Gazprom’s efforts in the region in the context of the Eastern Gas Program. The Company continues to pre-develop the Chayandinskoye field, which forms the basis of a major gas production center. Construction of the Power of Siberia gas pipeline, which will provide domestic and foreign consumers with gas extracted in Yakutia and the Irkutsk Region, is going according to schedule.

The commissioning of Power of Siberia is linked to gas infrastructure expansion in Yakutia. Gazprom is currently designing a number of top-priority facilities – four gas pipeline branches with gas distribution stations and four inter-settlement gas pipelines – to bring gas to the towns of Aldan and Olyokminsk, the villages of Bechencha and Murya in the Lensky District, and the village of Iengra in the Neryungrinsky District.

Alexey Miller and Aisen Nikolaev discussed the prospects of further cooperation between Gazprom and the region’s transport and research organizations.

The parties paid particular attention to the development of sports infrastructure. By 2022, which will mark the 100th anniversary of the Republic of Sakha (Yakutia), the Company plans to build three new sports and health centers as part of the Gazprom for Children program. The center in Yakutsk will have a swimming pool and an ice-skating rink, and the ones in Aldan and Neryungri will also have ice-skating rinks. In addition, the Company will contribute to funding the construction project for a sports and health center with a multi-purpose gym and a swimming pool in Lensk.
