Portuguese market doors open to Angola- Premier

Luanda, ANGOLA, September 18 - The Portuguese market doors remain open to Angolan investors, at a time the parties intend to deepen their mutual beneficial relationship, said Tuesday the Portuguese Prime Minister António Costa. ,

 

The head of the Portuguese government said so at the beginning of the official talks between delegations of the two countries, stressing that Portugal is open and wishes to deepen the presence of Angolan investors.

 

According to António Costa, it is a partnership in which each contributes to the wealth of the other and both get benefit.

 

He mentioned more than thousand companies with Portuguese capital as operating in the Angolan market, and over five thousand export their products to Angola.

 

António Costa, who paid his first visit to the country as Portuguese head of Government, stated that Angola is one of the main official partners of Portugal in the world and the first in Africa.

 

At the helm of the Portuguese Government since November 2015, António Costa highlighted the peacemaking role that Angola plays in sub-Saharan Africa, with focus on a preventive diplomacy turned to conflict resolution.

 

Portugal feels great honour to stand by Angola’s side, said the Prime Minister, who stressed the strategic partnership between the two countries, backed by political, cultural and economic ties.

 

The official defended a fraternal and friendly relationship that allows them to face the common future with optimism and confidence.

 

The Portuguese Prime Minister’s two-day official visit to Angola ended Tuesday (18).

 

After the official talks, the two Governments signed several agreements.

 

They include the end of double taxation and a memorandum for the progressive debt settlement of Angolan public entities to Portuguese companies.

 

Angola and Portugal also set up a cooperation plan in the agriculture sector and signed a 2018/2022 Strategic Cooperation Programme.
