Angola's President João Lourenço enhances CPLP mobility

Cabo Verde, ANGOLA, July 17 - Angolan head of State João Lourenço Tuesday in Sal Island, Cabo Verde, defended solutions to improve mobility among the peoples from member States of the Community of Portuguese Speaking Countries (CPLP). ,

 

João Lourenço was speaking to the press shortly after his arrival in Cabo Verde's Sal Island, to attend the 12h Summit of the Heads of State and Government of CPLP, going until Wednesday, under the motto "People, culture and the oceans ".

 

The Angolan Statesman pointed to several advantages associated with improving mobility, including bringing the peoples together.

 

He said the CPLP has taken positive steps in its 22 years of existence, adding that the institution has grown and consolidated the structures of the community.

 

Asked about the relationship with Portugal, he described as excellent, as it is with all the CPLP countries.

 

In Cabo Verde, the Angolan Head of State was welcomed by his counterpart and host, Jorge Carlos da Fonseca.

 

Also confirmed in venue are the Heads of State of Portugal Marcelo de Sousa, Mozambique Filipe Nyusi, Guinea Bissau José Mário Vaz, Equatorial Guinea Obiang Nguema and São Tomé and Príncipe Pinto da Costa, as well as prime minister of Portugal António Costa.

 

The Brazilian president Michel Temer is expected to the Cabo Verde, while the East Timor counterpart Francisco Guterres will be represented by his Foreign minister.

 

The agenda of the meeting also covers the contribution of member States.

 

The first day is dedicated to the speeches of Statesmen of member countries and representatives.

 

The agenda includes an official dinner for member States.

 

The Portuguese candidate, Francisco Ribeiro Telles, will be elected for the position of Executive Secretary for two-year term, taking over Mozambican Maria do Carmo da Silveira.

 

The last CPLP 11th Summit took place in Brasilia, Brazil, on October 31 - November 1, 2016.
