Materialization of local governments reflection of participatory democracy - Jurist

Luanda, ANGOLA, July 7 - The materialization of local governments is a reflection of participatory democracy, where each citizen plays a great influence in the choice of a mayor, said Friday in Luanda, the lawyer Adérito Tati. ,

The jurist defended this viewpoint in the lecture on the implementation of the "Local Authorities and the presentation of the draft legislative package on local governments promoted by MPLA party youth wing (JMPLA) in the urban district of Rangel, in Luanda.

According to Adérito Tati, the materialization of local elections is reflected in a participatory and not only representative democracy, that is, people will have the opportunity to participate directly and actively in solving their own local problems.

He also said that in this process the population will be closer to the officials that make the decisions in their respective municipalities.

"Each municipality has its characteristic and each citizen, as a resident in a specific zone, will be in a better position to elect the figure that will work to overcome the shortages recorded the neighbourhoods", said Adérito Tati.

When one speaks about local governments, he clarified, it does not mean that all problems will be solved in a single time, but rather an administrative decentralization through local autonomy, whereby these self-governed areas will have autonomous agencies.

"The satisfaction of the public interest will be done more efficiently and public services will be closer to citizens", he emphasized.
