LM Requests $10M in funding for Manhattan Project National Historical Park
As part of its fiscal year (FY) 2020 budget request, the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) Office of Legacy Management (LM) will include approximately $10M in funding for the highest priority projects of the Manhattan Project National Historical Park. LM is aware of funding language in the FY 2019 Senate appropriations bill, but it is unclear if this funding will be enacted. With passage of the 2015 National Defense Authorization Act, the Manhattan Project National Historical Park was created as a partnership park between DOE and the U.S. National Park Service. DOE retains ownership and responsibility for historic preservation, cleanup, security, and safe public access to facilities within the park. Program Secretarial Office representatives will be meeting with Undersecretary Dabbar on this topic in early August.
