Angola confirms receiving Manuel Vicente's lawsuit file from Portugal
Luanda, ANGOLA, June 26 - The authorities confirmed last Monday the reception from Portugal’s judicial sector of the file involving the Angolan former Vice President of the Republic, Manuel Vicente, in the lawsuit dubbed "Operation Fizz".
,
The confirmation was given by the Angolan Attorney-General Department (PGR) through a press communiqué.
According to the document, the Attorney-General Department received on 19 June from its Portuguese counterpart the “Manuel Vicente Lawsuit” in Digital Format.
ANGOP has learnt that the original paperwork has 49 volumes and is yet to be sent to Angola.
The note explains that since the Angolan legal framework does not accept lawsuits in digital format, the PGR is still awaiting the receipt of the original lawsuit paperwork.
The former Angolan Vice President is accused of having bribed the Portuguese public prosecutor, Orlando Figueira, with 760,000 euros, for him to put an end to two inquiries, one of which has to do with the acquisition of a luxury property in the Estoril area of Portugal.
