Youth INC Welcomed Business Luminaries to its 11th Annual State of the Market Investors Conference

Event raised critical funds to benefit Youth INC’s work
with 80 youth-centered nonprofit partners

Keynote Speakers included Nasdaq’s Adena Friedman, TIAA’s Roger Ferguson and Ares’ Mike Arougheti

NEW YORK, June 13, 2018 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Youth INC welcomed guests to its 11th Annual State of the Market Investors Conference, a convening of political and financial luminaries to discuss topics shaping the investing landscape. The annual event benefits Youth INC and its 80 youth-centered nonprofit partners that collectively champion 220,000 NYC kids.  Since inception, State of the Market has raised close to $4 million to transform the lives of NYC kids!

The 2018 Conference kicked off with two keynote sessions beginning with a conversation with Adena Friedman, CEO of Nasdaq, interviewed by David Rubenstein, Co-Founder and Co-Executive Chairman of The Carlyle Group, followed by Roger Ferguson, President and CEO of TIAA.  After a compelling discussion about Cyber Risk, Anthony Scaramucci and Steve Rattner went head to head in a lively debate on the current political landscape.

New this year were two timely and relevant topics: Impact Investing and Cryptocurrency. Tony Davis, Founder and CEO of Inherent Capital, moderated the panel on Impact Investing “The New Alpha,” featuring Heather Davis of Nuveen, Ken Mehlman of KKR and Kristi Mitchem of Wells Fargo Asset Management. Allison Nathan of Goldman Sachs led the dialogue about Cryptocurrency “Rat Poison or Digital Gold,” featuring Glenn Hutchins of North Island and Digital Currency Group CEO and Founder Barry Silbert.

The Conference concluded with a panel on Limited Partner Perspectives and Priorities, moderated by Seven Step Capital Founder Seema Hingorani and featuring Paula Volent, Bowdoin College CIO and Wray Thorn, Chief Investment Officer of Sightway Capital, a Two Sigma company.

“While the content of this annual conference is always captivating and relevant, I am equally impressed with the business community coming together to support NYC kids.  We are grateful for our National Advisory Board’s leadership and support of this important event for our organization,” said John Waldron, Co-Head of Investment Banking at Goldman Sachs and Youth INC Board Co-Chair.

“We are extremely grateful to the diverse group of speakers who donated their time today for this year’s State of the Market Investors Conference, which raises critical funds to fuel our mission of transforming the lives of NYC kids by empowering the nonprofits that serve them,” said Rehana Farrell, Executive Director of Youth INC. “Youth INC could not host this event without our loyal and generous sponsors, especially our Presenting Sponsor, Nuveen, our Diamond Sponsor, Marsh and our Platinum Sponsors: AlphaServe, Alvarez & Marsal, Knighthead Capital, Barbara Marcin, Reed Smith, Rick Schifter, Ropes & Gray and Scotiabank."
