UAW Endorses Pat Miles for Michigan Attorney General

DETROIT – Citing a people first agenda that protects workers’ rights, fosters transparency in government, protects the rights of Michiganders, the UAW this morning announced the endorsement of Pat Miles for Michigan Attorney General.

“Pat Miles brings the experience to the table from fighting for our neighborhoods by prosecuting street gangs to protecting Michiganders from drug companies defrauding our government. Pat understands that the Michigan Attorney General’s office is about law enforcement not politics,” said Dennis Williams, President of the UAW.

Miles, whose grandparents were UAW members, said he would protect the work and safety rights of working families. “Michigan has strong laws protecting worker rights. The strength of these laws in practice, however, depends on active and effective enforcement. And that responsibility lies in the hands of the Attorney General,” said Miles. “As Attorney General, I will ensure these laws are enforced and will send the clear message that failure to follow these laws has consequences.”

“We need an Attorney General committed to using the office to protect our citizens, workers and communities,” said Williams. “We endorse Pat Miles because we believe he will fight for transparency and aggressively pursue issues like the Flint water crisis, the opioid crisis, and unemployment compensation scandal before these issues hit the headlines. Pat Miles has the record and experience to make a difference for UAW members and all Michigan families.”
