Angola: Efficient justice crucial for democratic state - president

Luanda, ANGOLA, March 13 - Angola's head of State João Lourenço said Tuesday in Luanda that efficient justice system at the service of citizens, companies and society was crucial factor for a true Democratic and Law-abiding State. ,

 

Speaking at the opening of 2018 Judicial Year ceremony, the head of State said that the multi-party system, coupled with regular elections, or freedom of expression and press was not enough.

 

According to the President, the true democratic and law-abiding State is directly connected with an efficient justice system, at the service of citizens, companies and society.

 

He spoke of ongoing this year of actions aimed at increasing equality before the law and access to law, courts, legal consultation, judicial patronage and judicial protection.

 

João Lourenço said that the government planned for the judicial year to strengthen the justice and law reform.

 

The process will be reflected in the context of the new organisation and development of the courts of common jurisdiction, with the creation of the conditions to open, next year, courts in Luanda and Benguela, he pledged.

 

The Statesman also spoke of the creation of Commercial Courtroom for Provincial Court of Luanda.

 

The President also spoke of an urgent need to put in place five courts of appeal and district courts, as well as training judicial and administrative staff.

 

Likewise, the President referred to the training and hire new magistrates and continue efforts to adjust the salary conditions for magistrates, justice staff and administrative technicians.

 

The head of State also pledged to provide facilities for General Attorney Office and the Court of Appeal of Luanda, as well as residences of missions for judges of Higher Courts.

 

The state also plan rehabilitation of infrastructure that will house the future headquarters of Benguela Court of Appeal, as well as the completion of some buildings intended for the installation of the District Courts.
