Angola at 62nd Session of UN Commission on Status of Women

New York, ANGOLA, March 12 - An Angolan multi-sector delegation led by the Minister of Social Action, Family and Women Promotion Victória Francisco da Conceição is attending the 62nd Session of the United Nations Commission on the Status of Women (CSW), going until 23 this month in New York. ,

 

The event is taking place under the theme, "The Empowerment of Rural Women and Girls".

 

The participants are examining to what extend the challenges and opportunities of gender equality and empowerment of this social class have been achieved.

 

On the sidelines of the meeting, the Angolan delegation will participate in various activities, with stress to the traditional meeting among the heads of the gender sector at the level of  community of Portuguese speaking countries (CPLP) and several round tables.

 

Minister Victoria Francisco da Conceição, who has been in New York since Saturday night, is expected to address the general debate of the 62nd CSW Session on Tuesday.

 

Attending the session MPs Isabel João Miguel Sebastião Pelinganga (head of Parliamentary delegation) and Albertina Navemba Ngola Felisberto.

 

The Deputy General Ombudsman, Antónia Florbela Araújo, and representatives from various public institutions and civil society are also at the meeting.

 

The 61st Session evaluated the progress made and the challenges in implementing the Beijing Declaration and the 1995 Platform for Action.

 

The Session also assessed the Results Agreed during the 23rd.
