Florida Health Care Coalition Announces 2018-2019 Executive Committee at Annual Meeting

The Florida Health Care Coalition (FLHCC) announced and installed the 2018-2019 Executive Committee and recognized The Leapfrog Group Top Hospitals.

ORLANDO, FLA., UNITED STATES, March 8, 2018 /EINPresswire.com/ -- The Florida Health Care Coalition (FLHCC) announced and installed the 2018-2019 Executive Committee during yesterday's Annual Meeting of the Board of Directors at Nova Southeastern University, Orlando campus.

The following Board Members are now appointed officers of the FLHCC 2018-2019 Executive Committee:
•Board Chair – Patrick Peters, Orange County (FL) Government
•Vice Chair – Mary Beth Clifton, Valencia College
•Treasurer – Jon Stolp, Florida Retail Federation
•Secretary – Beth Curran, Orange County Public Schools
•At-Large Director – Rosa Novo, Miami Dade Public Schools
•At-Large Director – Mark Weinstein, Independent Colleges and Universities Benefits Association
•At-Large Director – Angie O’Reilly, Florida Bankers Health Consortium
•At-Large Director – Ashley Bacot, Rosen Hotels and Resorts
•At-Large Director – Jessica Mason, City of Orlando

During the Annual Meeting, Dr. van Caulil reviewed the organization's major accomplishments in 2017 and discussed upcoming work in 2018 which will include implementation of innovative projects in oncology, cardiology and maternity, turning focus away from fee-for-service to payment for value. Dr. van Caulil also announced FLHCC's new partnership with the Association of Corporate Health Risk Managers.

The keynote speaker for the event was Jim Klein, President of the American Benefits Council. Mr. Klein presented on "Health Care Politics, Process and Policy" and provided a comprehensive update on health care legislative activity at the federal level. He asserted that "employers are the true innovators in health care" and agreed with Dr. van Caulil’s earlier statement that "employers should not wait for an Act of Congress to improve health care."

FLHCC also recognized the 13 hospitals in Florida that received Top Hospital awards from The Leapfrog Group in December 2017. The hospitals were acknowledged and thanked for their commitment to transparency, quality and patient safety. Below is a listing of the hospitals recognized:

FLHCC also unveiled its new "Health Care Hero" Award, which was sponsored by Florida Hospital Physician Network and given to Dr. Jack Mahoney, FLHCC Medical Director, for his impactful work in value-based benefit design that has improved the quality of health care for all Floridians. The annual award will be named the Dr. Jack Mahoney Health Care Hero Award.
