Transnational Government of Tamil Eelam (TGTE) announced today that it will release a mid-term Report Card on Sri Lankan Government’s implementation of its commitments UN Human Rights Council.

This Report Card will assess Sri Lanka’s implementation of UN Human Rights Council Resolution 30/1, which Sri Lanka co-sponsored two and a half years ago and promised to the UN Human Rights Council that it will fully implement the Resolution by March 2019.

This Report Card will focus on main categories of the Resolution 30/1 and steps, if any, were taken by Sri Lanka during the last two and a half years and whether Sri Lanka’s promise was genuine and honest when it co-sponsored the Resolution or whether it is an attempt to misguide and cheat UN Human Rights Council? Several extensions were given to Sri Lanka to fulfil its promise.

The Report Card will assess the following promises given by Sri Lanka to UN Human Rights Council.

1) Setting up of a Special Court, consist of International Judges and Prosecutors, to try cases of War Crimes and Crimes Against Humanity.
2) Creating an Office of Disappeared persons.
3) Repealing draconian Prevention of Terrorism Act (PTA).
4) Security Sector Reform.
5) Guarantee of non-recurrence.
