Finances Ministry hires firms for assistance with dealing with public debt

The government official was responding to the concerns of MPs in the debate of the members of the specialty commission of the National Assembly (Parliament) that is analysing the details of the 2018 Draft General State Budget (OGE).
In that session, which focused on the issue of the Public Debt, the Finances minister stressed that the Angolan Executive is very much worried about certain scams used in the public debt regularisation process.
“The concern is so serious that the Finances Ministry has hired specialty firms to help us with this process and, in some cases, we have been working with police organs, and any collaboration in this sense is welcome”, explained the minister.
He further emphasised that it will only be possible to improve the current poor state of the country’s finances if the Executive fully implements a financial consolidation process, which implies making an effort to reduce expenses and improve revenues.
The OGE will get the last vote of approval, in its final content, at the National Assembly’s plenary session of 14 February.
