Enjoying Some Wine With Your Special Valentine? Plan Ahead For A Sober Ride Home

OAKVILLE, Ontario, Feb. 13, 2018 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- If you’re going out to celebrate Valentine’s Day and raising a glass or two of wine with your special someone, be sure to plan ahead for a sober ride home, urge MADD Canada and Allstate Insurance Company of Canada.

“Happy Valentine’s Day, everyone,” said MADD Canada National President Patricia Hynes-Coates. “If you’re treating your sweetheart to a nice dinner out and enjoying some drinks, please be sure to leave the car at home. Risking an impaired driving charge or, worse, a crash, is just not worth it.”

Crashes involving alcohol and/or drugs claims hundreds of lives and cause tens of thousands of injuries every year. These tragic deaths and injuries are 100% preventable.

“Protecting the ones we love is always a top priority,” said Allstate Insurance Company of Canada President and CEO Ryan Michel. “If you’re spending the night out celebrating Valentine’s Day with your loved one or friends, take the time to plan ahead and ensure you have a safe ride home.

Long-time partners that work together to promote safe and sober driving, MADD Canada and Allstate Canada are asking Canadians to:

  • Never drive impaired.
  • Never accept a ride from a driver who may be impaired.
  • Call 911 if you see a driver you suspect is impaired.

Plan for safe and sober transportation this Valentine’s Day. Call a cab, arrange a designated driver, take public transit or check out Uber, MADD Canada’s Official Designated Driver App.
