Good Energy Launches New York Municipal Energy Progam With Association of Towns and New York Conference of Mayors
New York communities can sign up to save money on energy bills through this innovative, new program
NEW YORK, Feb. 08, 2018 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- The Association of Towns of the State of New York (AOT) and the New York State Conference of Mayors (NYCOM) have partnered with New York City-based energy consultant Good Energy to create the New York Municipal Energy Program (NYMEP), a one-of-a-kind, innovative Community Choice Aggregation (CCA) and Municipal buying initiative that allows New York communities and municipal facilities to save money on energy costs.
The program enables municipalities and community residents to join a bulk energy buying group to increase energy purchasing power and decrease costs. The New York Public Service Commission authorized the creation of CCAs in 2015 as part of Gov. Andrew Cuomo’s Reforming the Energy Vision program. New York is the seventh state in the country to allow CCAs, and Good Energy participated in the initial design of its first such program in Westchester County.

Municipalities that sign up will be able to save on energy costs for facilities such as wastewater treatment plants, correctional facilities and municipally-owned buildings.

As the fully endorsed, exclusive consultant for the program, Good Energy will negotiate lower energy costs for electricity and natural gas.
