Angola: General Egidio Sousa reaffirms FAA readiness

Luanda, ANGOLA, February 2 - The Angolan Armed Forces (FAA) Deputy Chief of General Staff for Patriotic Education, General Egídio Sousa and Santos, reaffirmed Friday the continued readiness to defend the country, to consolidate the achievements already attained by Angolans and preserve peace.,

The general who was lecturing on "February 4, 1961 and the current challenges", went back on the history between the past and the present of struggle of Angolans, which led to the conquest of national independence, on November 11, 1975.

To him, the beginning of the national liberation struggle on February 4, 1961 was a well-planned action.

He pointed out as a precedent the "sad massacre" on January 4 of the same year of thousands of Angolans in the Angolan region of Baixa de Cassanje, in the province of Malanje.

Egídio Sousa praised the tenacity and highlighted the feats of figures, such as Ngola Kiluanje, Mandume, Ekuikui, Agostinho Neto, Imperial Santana, among many other anonymous heroes, precursors of the struggle for the liberation of the country from the colonial yoke.

February 4 will be marked next Sunday, and is being celebrated under the motto "Eternal Glory to the Heroes of the Motherland".
