JACKSON, MISSISSIPPI, UNITED STATES , January 25, 2018 /EINPresswire.com/ -- Owens Corning Platinum Contractors are working with Habitat for Humanity Mississippi Capital Area (HFHMCA) to provide new roofs to veterans in need and their families. Arthur Mikell, a Vietnam War Army veteran, will receive a new roof on Wednesday, February 7, from Watkins Construction & Roofing, an Owens Corning Roofing Platinum Preferred Contractor, as part of the Owens Corning national Roof Deployment Project. This nationwide effort is a way to show gratitude and honor the veterans who served our country and the families who support them.

"Family owned and operated right here in Mississippi, we've served thousands of neighbors in the state for nearly two decades and we are committed to giving back to the communities we serve in Byram and Jackson," said Michael Dier, Owner and President of Watkins Construction & Roofing. "It's an honor to know that we can help an Army veteran like Arthur, who has given so much for his country, and make an impact right in our own backyard."

Owens Corning Roofing and its network of independent Platinum Contractors, along with support from the Owens Corning Foundation, are donating roofing materials and labor to replace roofing shingles on the homes of military veterans and their families throughout the country. Through a partnership with Habitat for Mississippi Capital Area, Arthur Mikell was selected and approved as the recipient for the roof replacement.

"We are grateful for this partnership with Owens Corning and the whole team from Watkins Construction & Roofing," said Merrill Tenney McKewen, HFHMCA Executive Director. "Collaborations like this help us serve more families and ensure decent, safe housing."
