Angolan President leaves for Brazzaville tripartite meeting

Luanda, ANGOLA, December 9 - The Angolan Head of State, João Lourenço, left Luanda this Saturday morning for Brazzaville, Republic of Congo, to participate in a tripartite meeting to analyse peace in DR Congo. ,

At 4 de Fevereiro International Airport (Luanda), the Vice President, Bornito de Sousa, the Speaker  of the National Assembly, Fernando da Piedade Dias dos Santos, and the Constitutional Court Chief Justice, Manuel Aragão, bid farewell to the Angolan Head of State.

 

At the airport were also the governor of Luanda, Adriano Mendes de Carvalho, members of the government, among other individuals.

 

In Brazzaville, the presidents of Angola, João Lourenço, Congo, Denis Sassou Nguesso, and DR Congo, Joseph Kabila, will meet in the early afternoon of this Saturday, to analyse the state of the situation in the Democratic Republic of the Congo.

 

The meeting is part of the efforts to ensure peace, stability and cooperation in DR Congo and the Great Lakes region, with the involvement of neighbouring countries, regional organisations and the United Nations.

 

During the working visit of a few hours to Congo, João Lourenço will meet with his counterpart from Congo, Denis Sassou Nguesso, to analyse the strengthening of the bilateral co-operation.

 

At present, the co-operation is focused on the sectors of oil, agriculture, justice, fisheries, culture, defence, telecommunications and finances.
