The Paley Center for Media to Celebrate the Holidays with a Free Family Experience Including a Visit from Santa, Screenings of Classic Holiday TV Programs, and Fun Craft Activities Iconic “Parade of the Wooden Soldiers” Costumes from the “Christmas Spectacular Starring the Radio City Rockettes,” Will Be on Display

NEW YORK, NY, November 14, 2017 - The Paley Center for Media is pleased to announce that its New York location will once again transform into a holiday wonderland beginning on December 9, when It’s Holiday Time in PaleyLand opens to the public, with free admission for all. Visitors will have the opportunity to come in from the cold, warm up with complimentary hot cocoa and special holiday treats, enjoy nonstop screenings of beloved holiday TV classics, craft activities, and a visit from Santa! At the center of the experience is a display of the iconic costumes worn by the Radio City Rockettes in the “Parade of the Wooden Soldiers” number during the Christmas Spectacular Starring the Radio City Rockettes.

Located in the heart of New York City, It’s Holiday Time in PaleyLand is only steps away from favorite holiday destinations including the Rockefeller Center Christmas tree and skating rink, Radio City Music Hall, St. Patrick’s Cathedral, the dazzling holiday windows at Saks Fifth Avenue, and the newly opened American Girl Place retail store right across the street from the Paley Center.

Paley Center Patron, Supporting, and General Members will have the opportunity to experience two very special events: First before It’s Holiday Time in PaleyLand opens to the public, members can enjoy a special preview on December 9, from 11:00am to noon, featuring a meet and greet with the Radio City Rockettes.

 

At the same reception, members will be treated to a meet & greet with stage and screen star Danny Aiello. Mr. Aiello is currently appearing in the new Broadway show, Home for the Holidays: Live on Broadway which will play November 17-December 30 at the August Wilson Theater. Home for the Holidays also features for the very first-time, winners of American Idol, The Voice, and America’s Got Talent sharing one stage. Three of the greatest voices of their generation: Candice Glover, Josh Kaufman, and Bianca Ryan, perform contemporary takes on more than 25 holiday favorites.

The Paley Center will welcome the jolly man himself, Santa Claus. Santa will be at the Paley Center to greet visitors and pose for photos on the following dates: December 9, 10, 16, 17, 20, 22, and 23 from noon to 6:00pm; December 21 from noon to 8:00pm; and December 24 from noon to 4:00pm.

 

To celebrate Hanukkah, visitors can participate in activities that include menorah and dreidel making, receive treats of Hanukkah gelt, enjoy screenings of Hanukkah TV specials including A Rugrats Chanukah, Lamb Chop’s Special Chanukah and The Weinervielle Chanukah Special, and take a photo by a stunning four-foot tall menorah, crafted out of woodland materials of white birch bark and evergreens.

 

Throughout the run of It’s Holiday Time in PaleyLand visitors will have the opportunity to enjoy nonstop daily screenings of classic holiday TV programs from the Paley Archive including: Frosty the Snowman, Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer, A Charlie Brown Christmas, Dr. Seuss’ How the Grinch Stole Christmas!, A Rugrats Kwanza, and Santa Claus is Comin’ to Town; and on Thursdays from 6:00pm to 8:00pm screenings will include: Doug’s Secret Christmas, The Year without Santa Claus, and Yogi’s First Christmas. The Paley Archive is the nation’s largest publicly accessible archive of television and radio programs from over seventy countries, spanning almost one hundred years.

 

To round out the month-long holiday celebration, the Paley Center will welcome a visit from the Three Kings on January 6, from 1:00pm to 3:00pm.  Visitors will have the opportunity to pose for photos with the Three Kings and a limited number of gifts will be given to the first children who arrive to take part in the festivities. The Paley Center will also show special screenings of Dora Saves Three Kings Day, Hallmark Hall of Fame: Amahl and the Night Visitors and All Around the Town, to celebrate the occasion.
